AQUACULTURE | ST HELENA BAY, WESTERN CAPE

The West Coast Abalone Farm, established in 1998, is situated on the Cape St Martin peninsula bordering St Helena Bay in the Western Cape, approximately 160km north of Cape Town.

The farm is an integrated operation with its own hatchery to ensure continuity of spat to the grow out phase. The farm currently exports in excess of 60 tons of live, canned and dried abalone per year.

The abalone are fed natural kelp as well as a high-protein formulated food. A strategic partnership was formed with a BEE kelp harvesting company to ensure consistent supply of kelp for the abalone. West Coast Abalone also works together with a number of processors of abalone to supply various products to our clients worldwide.
